Homework and Support Club At Vaughan Road Academy we continue to make our school an institution that cares for students, fosters growth and nurtures success and achievement. This student success initiative that will begin on January 16, 2012 and continue on through the remainder of the school year. The initiative is the Homework and Assignment Support Club and the purpose of the club is multi-faceted. The Homework and Assignment Support Club will be used to: 1. Encourage completion of homework and assignments by all students in a timely manner. 2. Minimize the excessive build up of incomplete homework and assignments that is a detriment to student success. 3. Provide a supervised, quiet environment that will allow students to work independently on incomplete homework and assignments as well as future assignments assigned by their teachers. The Homework and Assignment Support Club will operate out of our resource center (Library), Monday, Tuesday and Thursday during the lunch hour from 11:55 a.m. – 12:35 p.m. and on Wednesdays from 12:35 p.m. – 1:15 p.m. The 11:55 and 12:35 start times have been put in place to allow students to eat lunch before attending the Homework and Assignment Support Club. The Homework and Assignment Support Club will operate on a referral basis from teachers and Vice Principals; however, students who are not referred are also welcome to attend the club. Students who are referred by their teacher(s) must attend the session that is assigned to them. Each student referred to the Homework and Assignment Support Club will receive a referral slip in the morning they are to attend the lunch hour session.
