Statement from Chair Robin Pilkey and Director of Education John Malloy on the Passing of Trustee Sheila Ward

It is with a profound sense of loss that we have learned of the passing of Trustee Sheila Ward.

On behalf of all Trustees and staff of the Toronto District School Board, our thoughts are with Sheila’s family and friends at this time.

Sheila was a tireless advocate for her community and public education in the City of Toronto.

A School Trustee for more than 20 years, Sheila represented Midtown Toronto on the former Toronto Board of Education from 1991 to 1994 and has represented Toronto Centre Rosedale since 1997. She served as Chair of the Board between 2003 and 2007.

In the days and weeks ahead, we will be looking at how best to celebrate Sheila’s life. The flags at TDSB buildings will be lowered to half-staff for the remainder of the week in her memory.

Donations in Sheila's memory can be made to Nelson Mandela Park Public School by visiting: https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/toronto-district-school-board/
(select Nelson Mandela Park PS – In Memory of Trustee Ward” from the dropdown menu)

Donations can also be made via cheque payable to “TDSB – Nelson Mandela” and forwarded to the TDSB Finance Department at 5050 Yonge Street.”
