TDSB Students Get Grand Treatment

Categories: Great Things, Happenings @ TDSB

On Monday, November 27, 2017, the Children’s Breakfast Clubs hosted its annual Christmas Gala at the Liberty Grand Entertainment Complex focusing on Caring & Sharing in which numerous TDSB schools were able to participate in. This was the seventh annual Caring & Sharing Christmas Gala that allowed students to get into the holiday spirit. The event also included being served a luncheon in the Liberty Grand ballroom and featured surprise guest Prime Minister Justin Trudeau who spoke a few words about what caring and sharing means to him.

In accordance with this year’s theme of Caring & Sharing, the children were also able to select two gifts from the Spin Master Canada Toy Shop - one to keep for themselves and one to share with a relative or close friend. The children were then able to play with these toys in a dedicated “Play Room” and accompanied by musicians, magicians, face painters, photos with Toronto Police and Mr. & Mrs. Clause, and Spin Master Canada employees demonstrating the 2017 holiday season’s most popular toys.

Hosted by CBC’s Dwight Drummond, the theme of 'Caring & Sharing' was visible with over 500 volunteers from the Liberty Entertainment Group, Spin Master, Toronto Police, Carquest, Centennial College, North American Produce Buyers and a number of different cultural organizations.

This event is a true reflection of partnerships and at the very heart of the Breakfast Clubs is an understanding that children need intellectual stimulation from a variety of sources including reading, computer work, educational games and arts and crafts.
