Presteign Heights Public School is located on St. Clair Avenue East in the Parkview Hills community. The school first opened in 1951. With its new large playground and soccer fields the school has become an important meeting place for our community, friends and neighbours.
Working in collaboration with our community, parents and educational partners, the staff of Presteign Heights supports and motivates students as they strive to achieve their intellectual, physical, social, emotional, and moral potential.
We deliver excellent educational programmes characterized by relevancy and accountability in a safe, peaceful and nurturing environment where individuals are respected, valued and expected to make a contribution.

Active and Supportive Parent Association

The Presteign Heights SAC Association and Home & School continues as a merged group.  With our many active parent members together they plan, organize and fundraise for our students.  They also support the students with additional activities such as a yearly Writing Contest, Art Exhibition, and Earth Day Festivities.

Several SAC subcommittees such as the executive and the curriculum committee also exist and continue to work collaboratively with the principal in an capacity providing input on a variety of issues.

Character Development

Character Education has continued to be a strong focus at Presteign Heights Elementary School.  By focusing on the TDSB's Character Education Program the staff have integrated these attributes into their daily Unit planning.  This has established a positive culture for learning and human development throughout our school community.  The students study a characteristic in depth each month and as a result have a greater understanding of their environment and the community around them.  This establishes a safe and co-operative environment in which everyone is able to work, learn and play.

Teaching and Learning

The Presteign Heights teaching staff continue to participate in a variety of professional development opportunities in order to provide evidence-based effective programming for all of our students.  This year, we are focusing on questioning circles to further develop the students higher level thinking skills.

Supporting Student Needs

Presteign Heights continues to work closely with our parents and our other community partners such as the Park View Hill Community Association to support the physical, social, emotional, and cultural needs of our students.  In order to help our children thrive we offer International Languages Programs and After Four programs run by our SAC/Home & School Association.

Technology

We are continuing to make constant improvements in our acquisition of technology.  Recently, we have added an additional six computers to our computer lab.  Before the end of the year we are hoping to purchase interactive whiteboards and multimedia projectors for some of our classrooms as well as update classroom computers.
