Students in the Resource Program receive support for less than 50% of the school day. There are three settings associated with the Resource Program: Indirect Support, Resource Assistance and Withdrawal Assistance. Exceptional students are placed in the program through an IPRC. Non-identified students may be placed in the program on the recommendation of the In-school Support Team School Support Team.
Secondary Resource (RSE)Course
Resource is a non-credit –bearing assignment provided for a student to receive individualized support particular to a student’s need, as reflected in the Individual Education Plan (IEP). The support is highly individualized and determined in collaboration with the subject teacher.
Secondary Learning Strategies (GLE) Course
(for students on an Individual Education Plan (IEP))
GLE is a credit-bearing elective course which only students with IEPs may enroll, whether or not they have been identified with an exceptionality by an IPRC. It has a specific mandated curriculum determined by the Ministry of Education. The student must meet an appropriate proportion of the course expectations to receive the credit. Student may earn up to four GLE credits in their secondary career.
Focus on Success Program
The Focus on Success Program provides support for students who exhibit ongoing behavioural concerns that result in significant difficulties adjusting emotionally and /or academically in school. Behaviours may be due to academic frustration as well as social/emotional issues.
This program offers students an alternative environment for both social/emotional and academic needs. It will provide students with the opportunity to learn important skills and strategies for success in school and their community.
