Dare2Create Elementary Projects

Dare2Create Arts Conference - Grade 7 and 8 students

On May 20, 150 students will gather at the Harbourfront Centre for a day of dance, drama, spoken word, and visual arts experiences with some of Toronto’s most celebrated artists. Mustafa, an outstanding young poet from Jarvis Collegiate, has just released his first recording of spoken word and will launch the day with a special performance. The theme of connections to the city of Toronto will fuel the day’s creative explorations.
Schools that have participated in the inspireARTS and engageARTS learning modules were invited to participate in this special opportunity.

Dare2Create Arts Conference - Artist Bios

Dare2Create Artist Residencies - Grades 1 to 6

Up to three elementary schools in every family of schools will host an artist in residence for five days in May. Each of the three schools will be partnered with a different artist, ensuring all three arts disciplines – dance, drama, visual arts - are represented in the Family of Schools. An artist will be partnered with two classes in each of the schools for five days. The artist will work in one classroom in the morning, and another classroom in the afternoon.

The residency will facilitate a rich creative process which can be extended and expanded upon by the classroom teacher and will culminate with a sharing of the learning. Schools will be selected by Family of School Superintendents and a list of participating schools will be published in May.
