Toronto District School Board

Public Consultations on the School Resource Officer Program

The School Resource Officer program has been in place in the TDSB for nearly a decade. Through it, officers from Toronto Police Services were assigned to 45 of our 584 TDSB schools during the instructional day.

The Board has voted to review the program and, during this review, the program will be suspended in order to create an environment where all participants feel safe providing open and unbiased input.

This comprehensive review is an important reflection of our commitment to putting equity, inclusion and the well-being of students, staff and school community members at the centre of all the TDSB’s activities.

As part of this review, we want to hear from our staff, students and community members.

We will be hosting a number of public consultation sessions to ensure the highest possible level of access for all who wish to contribute their voice. While honouring the input of all stakeholders, the consultations will reflect the Board’s commitment equity and inclusion with a focus on engaging those voices that have traditionally been marginalized or discounted.

Please join us at one of the following sessions:

Light refreshments and child care will be provided. If you have any questions or special requirements, please contact Jim Spyropoulos at 416-397-3678.

The review will also include a survey of students and parents from schools that have had the School Resource Officer program.
