We are excited to announce that a new software package will be used to manage our permit bookings. The software that we have been using for over 15 years is being retired. In the past few years, we have been gathering feedback from our clients about the improvements they wish to see in the booking system. We are confident that our new booking system will provide a better experience.
Our new booking system will be effective for all permits starting in the 2016-17 school year. This will
- record all communications between the Permit Unit and clients
- provide online tutorials to guide users along the process
- allow clients to manage their own accounts, including assigning alternative contacts
- display space availability
- accept online applications
- accept uploaded documents
- display the status of the request
- accept online payment via credit card
- accept alternative payment methods, e.g., cheques
- provide online account statements
- and many more administrative features
Currently, we are working with our vendor towards fully launching the system to accept permit applications starting in May 2016, for all permits starting in September 2016. We will be providing frequent updates via email and also on our website. We hope that this notice will provide adequate lead time for you to prepare for the changes.
Important:
Since the applications for all permits after September 2016 will be accepted online, we ask that you withhold your new applications until May 2016. Applications for the new school year that are submitted using the existing application forms will not be processed.
